Kunstkamera - Siberian and Far Eastern

This page contains photos that were classified as being of Siberian and Russian Far Eastern peoples from the website of the Peter the Great Museum of Ethnography and Anthropology (http://www.kunstkamera.ru/kunst-catalogue/index.seam?c=PHOTO). Each photo on this page is linked to the page for the photo at kunstkamera.ru.

The photos are displayed at kunstkamera.ru either as thumbnails or in an interactive viewer that only displays a small area of an image, but you can download a larger version of an image by replacing the values of the parameters for the width and height in the URL of an image with 1000. The maximum size of the images is 1000 by 1000 pixels.

I used shell commands like this to download the images:

curl 'www.kunstkamera.ru/kunst-catalogue/index.seam?path=62%3A3495183%3A3507041&c=PHOTO&cid=234629&page='{1..10}|sed -n 's,.*c=PHOTO&id=\([0-9]*\)&.*<img src="\([^"]*\).*,\1 \2,p'|grep /spf/|xml unesc|sed 's/w=95&h=95/w=1000\&h=1000/'|parallel -C\ curl www.kunstkamera.ru/{2} -o kunstkamera_ket_{1}.jpg

Some persons in the photos that contain multiple persons might not belong to the people that the photo is listed under, and some photos could also have been classified under the wrong people.

I put photos from Kunstkamera of Ainus, Aleuts, Eskimos, and Uralic-speaking Siberians on other pages of this website.

Here is a map of the approximate areas where some of Russia's indigenous peoples live or have historically lived:
